Although the Brewers have not won the Fall Classic yet, they are in the driver's seat with a 3-1 lead, and Jackson Chourio is a huge reason why.
He is 10-for-20 in the World Series so far, and has three stolen bases as well. His 10th hit came in extra innings in Game 4, and it tied Babe Ruth's World Series record for most hits through four games in a World Series.
Ruth ended that World Series with 10 hits as the New York Yankees swept the St. Louis Cardinals. Chourio stands alone with the Hall of Famer now as the only player with double-digit hits in the first four games of the Fall Classic.
Chourio, William Contreras, Aaron Ashby and now Cooper Pratt are all candidates for World Series MVP should the Brewers win. Obviously, the Tampa Bay Rays could come back to win, or someone else could have an insane performance the rest of the way, but right now, Chourio may be the favorite.
After all, being in a club where the only other member is a player many consider the greatest of all time is pretty impressive.
Chourio is three hits shy of tying the record for hits in a World Series. He would have a better chance of beating the record if the series extends to Game 6, but surely he and every Brewers fan would prefer to celebrate in St. Petersburg on Wednesday night.
He already has one four-hit game in this postseason. He could have another tonight and hopefully lead his team to a win.
