The Milwaukee Brewers will try to win the World Series on Wednesday night, but after a bullpen game in Game 4, the status of some of their pitchers is in the air.
None of DL Hall, JoJo Romero, Abner Uribe, Aaron Ashby or Trevor Megill pitched in Game 3, so they were well rested for Game 4. Megill faced just one batter in Game 4, so he should be good to go. Uribe threw two innings, but it would be a surprise if he is not available.
Romero and Hall should both also be good to go. The only real question mark among the Brewers' big relievers is Ashby. However, Pat Murphy revealed that he may be able to go.
"Possibly," Murphy said when asked if Ashby could pitch in Game 5, per MLB.com's Adam McCalvy.
He threw 31 pitches in Game 4, and extended his streak of scoreless innings in the postseason to 18.
He now holds the record for the longest scoreless innings streak in a single postseason in MLB history. He has been so good he had a case to win the National League Championship Series MVP, and has a strong case to win the World Series MVP Award.
He has been one of the best players in the entire postseason, and Murphy has relied on him to get some huge outs. It's hard to imagine Murphy not going to him with an off day Thursday if he is needed.
The Brewers will be hoping for a long outing from their ace, Jacob Misiorowski. It would be a great time for his first six-inning outing of the postseason, limiting the innings Murphy needs out of his bullpen.
