The Milwaukee Brewers are one win away from winning the World Series, which means they are one win away from having the first World Series MVP in franchise history.
The Brewers have gotten contributions from almost every player, but Jackson Chourio and William Contreras have been leading the way. Right now, they are the two favorites to win World Series MVP.
Chourio has eight hits, four runs, three stolen bases, an extra-base hit and two RBIs through three games. Contreras has seven hits, one run, three RBIs, a walk and has caught three runners stealing. He has also been great with challenging pitches and getting the Brewers' exceptional pitching staff through the game.
If the Rays make this a series again, someone else could step up and throw their name into the ring, but right now, those two have the best chances of winning the award. Aaron Ashby and Robert Gasser have both pitched well, but unless the series goes to game seven, Gasser likely won't pitch again.
Ashby seems like a lock to pitch in Game 4 if it's close, and he could strengthen his case, but he would have to do a lot and Contreras and Chourio would have to have pretty quiet games.
Of the two Venezuelan stars, Contreras should be the frontrunner to win World Series MVP. What he has done behind the plate is sensational, and offensively he has been just as good as Chourio. Contreras had a strong case to win the National League Championship Series MVP, but it went to Jake Bauers.
Chourio could make himself the favorite with a big Game 4, but right now the award should be Contreras' to lose.
