The Miami Marlins may not have made the postseason, but young infielders Otto Lopez and Xavier Edwards established themselves as two of the best infielders in the game.

Lopez was an All-Star and Edwards had a career year. Edwards manned second base, hitting .280 with a .730 OPS. Lopez played shortstop and led baseball in hits. He slashed .305/.349/.437.

Both players are capable of playing either middle infield spot and are under club control through 2029. According to the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson, the team is not shopping either of them, but a trade is not off the table.

"Though the Marlins aren’t believed to be shopping Lopez or Edwards, neither player is considered untouchable," wrote Jackson. "If a team is willing to offer a lot in return, Miami would listen."

It's understandable that the return for either player would have to be huge, but there are certainly teams that would be willing to pay the price for a controllable middle infielder with great contact skills. Defensively, Lopez is much better than Edwards.

Of the two, Lopez is the better player, but no team is going to look at Edwards as too far off. A team like the New York Yankees would surely love to have either one of them at second base.
