The Boston Red Sox are expected to make some changes this offseason after losing to the New York Yankees in the AL Wild Card Round for the second year in a row, and that starts with their coaching staff.
The Red Sox overhauled their coaching staff in April, firing Alex Cora and several of his assistants. Their internal replacements lacked Major League experience, and several figured to be temporary.
Sure enough, Boston has reassigned interim first base coach Pablo Cabrera and interim third base coach Chad Epperson, according to a report on Wednesday from MLB.com's Ian Browne.
Epperson will manage Triple-A Worcester in 2027. Iggy Suarez, who managed Worcester after Chad Tracy replaced Cora, will serve as his bench coach.
Cabrera will return to his previous role as Minor League defensive coordinator.
With Epperson and Cabrera reassigned, the Red Sox will need to find a new first base coach and third base coach as they assemble their coaching staff for 2027.
