The Milwaukee Brewers are one win away from sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers, and have gotten to this point without Jacob Misiorowski and Logan Henderson having their best starts.
Henderson made two costly errors in Game 2 of the series, and Misiorowski went just 4 1/3 innings in Game 1, allowing five hits and walking three batters. However, in Game 3, Robert Gasser stepped up big time. He went five innings, matching Henderson for the longest start by a Brewer this postseason. However, unlike Henderson's five-inning start against the San Diego Padres, Gasser did not allow a run.
According to OptaSTATS, Gasser is the first rookie in MLB history to record a scoreless start in the postseason against the defending champions.
Gasser came to Milwaukee in the Josh Hader trade in 2022. He made his debut in 2024, but before this season, he had only played in seven regular-season games. He underwent Tommy John surgery after his first five career starts and did not return until late in 2025. His rookie status was intact through this season.
There were serious questions about who would be pitching for the Brewers after Misiorowski and Henderson. Well, Gasser has stepped up big time, and it's not crazy to say he has actually been their best starter this postseason. If the Brewers win it all, Gasser will be remembered for gutsy road performances against the Padres and Dodgers.
The job for the Brewers is not finished, and unless the Dodgers come back from a 3-0 deficit, Gasser will draw a start in the Fall Classic as well.
