In three years as the Houston Astros' manager, Joe Espada never had a losing record and made the playoffs twice.
.Just a few weeks after leading the Astros to the 2026 AL West title, however, he's already out of a job.
Houston parted ways with Espada on Wednesday, two months after dismissing general manager Dana Brown.
Despite winning the division this year, the Astros were swept by the Chicago White Sox in the ALDS. They were swept in the 2024 ALDS under Espada as well.
Although he compiled a 256-229 record during the regular season, Espada was 0-4 in the postseason. Houston's record declined each year under hi watch, too, falling fron 88 wins to 87 to 81.
While the Astros are looking to go in a new direction and turn things around, Espada shouldn't have much trouble finding a new managing gig. He already has an interview lined up with the Seattle Mariners, so perhaps he'll stay in the AL West.
