The Milwaukee Brewers took a 2-0 lead over the San Diego Padres in the National League Division Series after Mason Miller blew a one-run lead in the ninth inning.
Miller walked the bases loaded in the ninth inning, and Jackson Chourio drove in the game-tying and winning runs on a single. Miller had 38 saves in the regular season, blowing just three saves all year. The Padres asked him to get six outs, but he was unable to come through in the most important game of the year. It was the first time in the season that he allowed three walks in a game.
The Brewers' comeback over the All-Star closer was extremely improbable, and it's possible Miller was tipping pitches. On the broadcast, it looked like Miller's hand was deeper in his glove on his slider than on his fastball. However, it seems like it would only be noticeable from second base.

Miller recorded the first out fairly easily, getting Garrett Mitchell to ground out. However, after he walked Christian Yelich, displaying some poor command, things started to come undone. Yelich stole second base, where it would be easy to see Miller tipping his pitches and signaling to the batter. Sal Frelick then worked a walk, laying off every slider that Miller threw.
In the next at-bat, Andrew Vaughn spit on the first two sliders before flying out on a slider in a 0-2 count. The following batter, Gary Sanchez, also did not swing at a single slider, working a walk to load the bases. All three of those at-bats came with Yelich on second base.
The next batter, Chourio, saw just one slider from Miller, which he impressively took low in a 1-2 count. He hit the next pitch up the middle to give the Brewers a 2-0 series lead.
