The Boston Red Sox designated Brett Harris in a flurry of roster moves on Tuesday.
The Red Sox placed Eduardo Rivera on the 60-day injured list, activated Isiah Kiner-Falefa from the injured list, selected Jedixson Paez to the Major League roster and designated Harris for assignment before Tuesday's game. Harris was acquired from the Athletics on July 1 and played in one big-league game for the Red Sox.
He played in 34 games for Triple-A Worcester and was slashing .236/.356/.355. He had three home runs and 19 RBIs for the WooSox. He does not have a hit in the big leagues this year, in six games between the Red Sox and the Athletics.
He was hitting very well for the Athletics' Triple-A affiliate in Las Vegas before he was acquired by the Red Sox. He had a .336/.441/.537 slash line with 19 extra-base hits there. However, Las Vegas is a very hitter-friendly environment, and he was not able to replicate those results for the WooSox.
Harris was a seventh-round pick by the Athletics in 2021. He made his debut in 2024, but did not play great in his 36 big-league games that year. The following year was better for him. In 34 games in 2025, he had a .274 batting average. The Red Sox can try to work out a trade for him, but otherwise he will go back on waivers.
