On Sunday, the Boston Red Sox got Roman Anthony and Trevor Story back from the injured list.
Anthony and Story had missed most of the season, but they are back in time for the final month of the regular season and a postseason push. Interim manager Chad Tracy has liked what he's seen so far from the two stars.
"They look good. They look really good," said Tracy, per Audacy's Scott McLaughlin. "Both of them have swung the bat really, really well."
Anthony is 4-for-8 with three extra-base hits and a walk. He has not struck out in the two games he's played in since returning. Story is also 4-for-8 since returning and has two extra-base hits. On Monday, he had three RBIs and a walk-off single in the tenth inning.
Story was really struggling at the plate before going on the injured list with a sports hernia. He had a .206 batting average and a .547 OPS through his first 41 games. Anthony was also not quite himself early in the year.
Anthony was hitting .248 in his first 32 games and had just one home run. Both players have come out of the gate swinging hot bats after their respective injuries. The Red Sox have an outside chance to win the division, but are trying to secure a postseason spot.
They have a solid lead in the wild card race and have a chance to pass the New York Yankees for the top wild card spot in the American League.
