After a brief slump in the middle of August, the Boston Red Sox are scorching hot again. They've won five in a row and seven of their last eight, continuing their torrid summer.
A big and surprising reason for their recent surge is Mickey Gasper, who's suddenly become the hottest player in baseball.
Gasper has done nothing but rake since rejoining the lineup last week, crushing five home runs and three doubles with 12 RBI over his last eight games. Not surprisingly, the Red Sox have won seven of those contests, including his two-homer game against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday.
Gasper also has six walks and only one strikeout during that stretch, batting an absurd .476/.621/1.333.
The 30-year-old is providing a massive spark at DH for Boston, which needs all the offensive help it can get until Roman Anthony and Trevor Sory return from the IL.
In the meantime, Gasper will try to keep hitting like Ted Williams as long as he can.
