It's been a strange season for Jarren Duran.
On the one hand, he's been one of the worst everyday players in baseball and is having the worst full season of his career, batting .209/.266/.370 with 0.6 WAR and far more strikeouts than hits.
On the other hand, he's delivered several clutch hits for the Boston Red Sox and propelled them to multiple wins, including on Tuesday night with his extra-innings grand slam against the Miami Marlins.
Duran's 11th-inning blast was his only hit of the game, but it powered the Red Sox to a 7-3 road victory.
While he hasn't been the most consistent hitter this year, Duran has made many of his hits count. Of his 66 RBI, 17 have come in the ninth inning or later -- most in MLB.
He's been at his best in high-leverage situations this year, often saving his best for last in ballgames. He may be having a down season, but he's still finding ways to contribute when it matters and helping his team win.
