The Minnesota wins have had a lot of incredible pitchers toe the rubber for them over the years, from Bert Blyleven and Jim Kaat to Jack Morris and Johan Santana.
However, none of them had ever thrown an immaculate inning, making Taj Bradley's on Tuesday the first known one in franchise history.
Facing the lowly Athletics in the bottom of the fifth at Sutter Health Park, Bradley struck out the side on nine pitches, fanning Carlos Cortes, Brian Serven and Henry Bolte.
It was the main highlight of a dominant evening for Bradley, who matched his career high with 11 strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings. He still allowed four runs, however, and didn't get much run support, resulting in a 4-2 defeat for the visiting Twins.
Despite the disappointing outcome, it's been a strong season for the 25-year-old right-hander, who's enjoying the best year of his career with a 9-6 record, a 3.97 ERA and 3.1 WAR. His 169 strikeouts are also a career high.
Unfortunately for him, Minnesota has lost four of his last five starts, failing to capitalize on his strong performance and falling five games below .500 with Tuesday's loss.
