Unfortunately for the Seattle Mariners, Bryce Miller just had one of the worst weeks in MLB history.
Miller got shelled in both of his outings last week, continuing a horrendous month of August for the 28-year-old right-hander.
On Tuesday, he allowed six runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings agains he Milaukee Brewers. The Mariners imploded after he left the game, losing 22-0 in one of the most lopsided defeats in MLB history.
Miller's outing on Sunday led to a similarly disastrous outcome. He surrendered six runs on wo his and seven walks in 4 1/3 innings versus the Chicago Cubs. Once again, Seattle collapsed after he departed, losing 19-2.
It was the worst two-start run by a starter in over a century, as Miller became the first pitcher since George Van Haltren of the 1890 Brooklyn Wonders to lose consecutive starts by at least 17 runs.
It's been a rough summer for Miller, who hasn't recorded a win since July 2. Seattle has lost his last eight starts and 10 of his last 11.
Meanwhile, his ERA has soared from 1.71 on July 2 to 4.12.
With the Mariners three games back in the Wild Card race, they need him to turn things around ASAP. He'll try to bounce back this weekend against the Toronto Blue Jays.
