Football season is right around the corner, and Tuesday's MLB slate featured a football score.

The Milwaukee Brewers annihilated the Seattle Mariners 22-0 in Tuesday's series opener at American Family Field, scoring all but one of those runs after the fourth inning. The Brewers pounded out 22 hits, including four home runs. They also drew five walks, stole three bases and went 11-for-18 with runners in scoring position.

Meanwhile, the Mariners failed to score a single run and managed just five hits. They also did themselves no favors in the field, committing four errors and allowing four unearned runs.

By comparison, Milwaukee had nine runs in the eighth inning alone.

The 22 runs were easily a season-high for the NL Central-leading Brewers, tying their most in franchise history. It was also the biggest margin of victory in team history and the most lopsided home shutout in MLB history since 1885.

Milwaukee's played great baseball all season, but this was another level. The Brewers had been somewhat cold at the plate lately, averaging just 3.5 runs per game in August prior to Tuesday's outburst.

After winning four of their last five, time will tell what they can do for an encore on Wednesday.
