When the Boston Red Sox fired Alex Cora, it seemed like the team was destined for a terrible finish in the standings.
However, interim manager Chad Tracy has gotten the team back into postseason position and has made a strong case to have the "interim" tag dropped from his title. However, that has not happened yet. Craig Breslow will have to make that decision at some point.
"We haven’t gotten into it a whole lot yet,” Tracy said Friday, per MassLive's Chris Cotillo. “I know that if and when the time comes, Brez will come to me. I talk to Brez every day. The communication and structure there is outstanding. We’re in sync and focused on what we’re doing. If the time comes, I know he’ll come to me if it gets there.”
Tracy has gone 61-42 as the Red Sox's manager, and if the Red Sox do not keep him around, another team will surely hire him in a heartbeat. He has proven he is more than capable of managing a team in just his first year as a big-league manager.
