MLB's top pitching prospect is heading to the Show.

On Thursday, ESPN's Jeff Passan reported that the Seattle Mariners are planning to promote Kade Anderson and have him start on Saturday against the Chicago Cubs.

The third overall pick in last year's MLB Draft, Anderson is MLB's No. 1 pitching prospect and No. 5 overall prospect according to MLB Pipeline. The 22-year-old lefty has been sensational in Double-A this year, going 10-1 with a 1.06 ERA, a 0.64 WHIP and 135 strikeouts in 93 1/3 innings.

The Mariners are calling him up in the heat of a playoff race, as they are three games out of the final Wild Card spot in the American League. They're hoping Anderson can give them a big boost down the stretch and help them reach the postseason.

Based on how he's dominated Double-A, he looks ready. The Cubs are one of the best teams in baseball, however, so he'll have a tough matchup in his first assignment.
