After getting destroyed 22-0 by the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday, the Seattle Mariners immediately turned the page on Wednesday.
Coming off their worst loss in franchise history, the Mariners put Tuesday's horrific defeat behind them. They raced out to a fast start against Dustin May, pouncing on him for seven runs in the first two innings and knocking him out of the game.
Seattle didn't score after that, but it proved to be enough run support for Logan Gilbert and the bullpen. The Brewers rallied and cut the deficit to 7-5, but the Mariners hung on for the victory at American Family Field.
It was a much-needed reset for Seattle, which picked up its fourth win in six games. The Mariners remain 2.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot in the American League.
They'll go for the series win and try to end their road trip on a high note Thursday behind George Kirby, who will square off against Robert Gasser.
