After eight Major League seasons, Trey Mancini is officially hanging up his spikes.
Mancini announced his retirement via an Instagram post on Tuesday morning, calling it a career at age 34.
The slugging first baseman/outfielder spent most of his career with the Baltimore Orioles, who drafted him out of Notre Dame in 2013 and promoted him to the big leagues three years later.
Mancini played for the Orioles from 2016 until they traded him to the Houston Astros during the 2022 season. He enjoyed his best seasons with Baltimore, finishing third in the 2017 AL Rookie of the Year race and topping 20 homers four times despite missing the 2020 campaign with Stage 3 colon cancer.
He helped the Astros win the World Series in 2022 but struggled for the Chicago Cubs in 2023. After not appearing in a Major League game in 2024 and 2025, he played five games for the Los Angeles Angels in June this season.
With two impressive comebacks under his belt, Mancini's inspirational career is coming to a close.
