It's been a rough month for the Philadelphia Phillies since they hosted the MLB All-Star Game.
The Phillies have gone 10-15 since the break, falling out of playoff position in the National League. Their postseason odds have tumbled 19 percent during that time, from 87 percent to 68 percent.
Philadelphia's bats went cold before the All-Star Break and have stayed quiet, averaging just 4.06 runs per game over their last 35 contests. Adding Luis Arraez hasn't helped, either, as he's just 8-for-40 since coming over at the trade deadline. Their pitching has also struggled over the last week or so.
If the Phillies do miss the playoffs, it will be the first time since 2021.
If that happens, it won't be too surprising. Philadelphia has an old roster, especially in the field. The Phillies also have a negative run differential this season, indicating they've been more lucky than good.
Their luck has faded recently, however, perhaps due to their older players wearing down. There's still time to turn things around, but they need to start playing better baseball and hitting more consistently over the next few weeks if they want to reach October.
