The MLB trade deadline is at 6 p.m. EST on Monday, and the Mets are expected to be very active sellers.
The team has already traded away A.J. Minter and Freddy Peralta, and is now reportedly sending Huascar Barzobán to the Chicago White Sox. This deal not only confirms that the Mets fire sale is on, but also that the White Sox are serious about making a run.

The White Sox already made a major trade by acquiring Luis Castillo and the remainder of his contract. He is due just over $7 million for the rest of this season, $24.1 million next season and $25 million in 2028 if he pitches 180 innings in 2027.
Castillo provides the White Sox with some much-needed help in the starting rotation, and now Barzobán bolsters an already solid bullpen. He has a 2.56 ERA on the season and has thrown 52 2/3 innings. He is a real Swiss Army knife out of the bullpen and can give the team multiple innings, close games or even serve as an opener.
The White Sox bullpen currently has the seventh-best ERA in baseball at 3.78. Barzobán sets them up for even more success as they look to hold on to a three-game lead in the American League Central. As for the Mets, the deals to move Minter, Peralta and Barzobán point to Clay Holmes, Brooks Raley and Luke Weaver all being on different teams by the end of the day.
