After landing veteran reliever A.J. Minter from the New York Mets on Thursday, the Minnesota Twins continued adding to their pitching staff on Friday, reportedly acquiring Dean Kremer from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for minor league outfielder Jhomnardo Reyes.
Kremer, 30, is in his seventh Major League season and is under team control through 2027. A solid backend starter, he was steady and reliable for much of his time with the Orioles before struggling with injuries this year, going 1-4 with a 6.50 ERA in seven starts this season.
Based on his career 4.37 ERA, Kremer has some rebound potential and could be an asset for Minnesota Down the stretch. At the very least, he'll provide some rotation depth, although he may not move the needle much.
Meanwhile, Reyes was the Twins' No. 24 prospect before being traded, so Baltimore's getting a legit prospect in return. He's only 18 and is in Single-A, however, so he still has a ways to go.
After bolstering their pitching staff this week, time will tell if the Twins make any other major moves before the Aug. 3 trade deadline.
