The New York Yankees need to add if they want to make a run this season.

Since Aaron Judge went down with a rib injury, the club has taken a notable step backwards. That's not the most shocking thing in the world. But right now it's unknown when he will be back. The Yankees can't afford to wait if they want to contend this season. Plus, with the American League weak, there may not be a better year to try to make a run.

The Yankees need more offense, to say the least. And it sounds like New York is willing to deal away a former top prospect, or two, to do so. Francys Romero of Beisbolfr.com reported that New York is planning to use Spencer Jones and Jasson Domรญnguez as "key pieces" ahead of the trade deadline.

"Spencer Jones and Jasson Domรญnguez are two of the key pieces the Yankees are planning to use as trade assets ahead of the Trade Deadline, according to industry sources," Romero wrote.

If Jones and Domรญnguez are actually available, that should be enough firepower for New York to bring a veteran bat back to town, plus maybe even a high-leverage reliever.

New York needs more firepower. The trade deadline could help in that department.
