The Boston Red Sox Have A Problem Nobody Expected

The Boston Red Sox faced off against one of the top overall teams in the American League over the weekend in the Cleveland Guardians and yet they were able to take two out of the three games. In fact, Boston scored nine runs on Sunday and nine runs on Saturday.

This series was yet another example of how odd the 2026 season has been for the Red Sox. Boston went 13-14 throughout the month of May. That's not terrible, although the Red Sox need more. The thing that is most shocking, though, is the fact that Boston actually went 9-3 on the road.

It's wild. Boston has been very solid on the road, but terrible at home. In fact, Boston is actually 9-19 at home so far this season at Fenway Park. In comparison, the Red Sox are 16-14 on the road. If Boston were even just an average team at home, it would be right around .500 and closer to a playoff spot.

It's been a weird season, to say the least. Fortunately, Boston has a day off on Monday, but will return to Fenway Park on Tuesday to begin a three-game series at home against the Baltimore Orioles.
