It sure sounds like the Boston Red Sox are making a change.

So far this season, Carlos Narváez hasn't been hitting much. He's slashing .210/.291/.314 with a .605 OPS, two homers and three RBIs. Connor Wong has been better offensively and entered the day on Saturday slashing .241/.323/.345 with a .668 OPS in 22 games played. While this is the case, the Red Sox have seen enough from Mickey Gasper to make a change. On Saturday, Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy alluded to the fact that Gasper is being viewed in more of a primary role behind the plate right now, as transcribed by MassLive.com's Chris Cotillo.

"At the moment, with right-handers, we’re looking to be aggressive to get Mickey in there,” Tracy said. “That’s not an easy thing for a drastic shift and the other two guys want to be in there, but we have to capitalize on that.

“That doesn’t mean that as you move along, things can’t change. Injuries happen, or guys go in slumps. You don’t know. But right now, it’s hard to not put his name in there.”

Gasper has been awesome for Boston. He's slashing .340/.380/.404 with a .784 OPS, two RBIs, three doubles and eight runs scored in 16 games played.

Arguably, the Red Sox are making the right call.
