The Boston Red Sox have a bright future, to say the least.
Despite all of the negative chatter around the organization this offseason after losing Alex Bregman, there's a lot to like about the organization. The club has young talent all over the place and the excitement starts with young outfielder Roman Anthony.
The 21-year-old entered the 2025 season ranked as the top prospect in baseball and he lived up to the hype. He began the season down in the minors and played in 58 games. Over that stretch, he slashed .288/.423/.491 with a .913 OPS. Anthony clubbed 10 homers, drove in 29 runs, and hit nine doubles. Anthony forced the issue and ascended to Boston.
Anthony's big league debut came on June 9 against the Tampa Bay Rays. It was a quiet game for him as he went 0-for-4, but he quickly found his footing. Anthony played in 71 games as a rookie in Boston and slashed .292/.396/.463 with eight homers, 32 RBIs, 40 walks, 18 doubles, and 48 runs scored. Anthony was a 3.1-WAR player in that small sample size. That's not normal. Unfortunately, his season was cut short due to injuries, but Anthony quickly showed that he wasn't just a good rookie, but an elite outfielder in general.
Now, he's preparing for his first full season in the big leagues and the fanbase should be excited.
