This Blue Jays-Dodgers Trade Idea Would Help Both Teams

The Toronto Blue Jays have a need in the outfield and the Los Angeles Dodgers have to create space for one of their young outfield prospects.

Josue De Paula made his debut late in the season. He is the Dodgers' top prospect and one of the top overall prospects in the game. The Dodgers called him up straight from Double-A, and if they want him to play regularly, they will have to move on from Andy Pages, Teoscar HernΓ‘ndez or Kyle Tucker.

It's pretty clear which one of those three needs to go, and the Blue Jays could really use him. Last season, the Blue Jays outfield was not great at the plate, and going into next season, Brett Bateman and Nathan Lukes may be their most reliable options.

Anthony Santander's contract has been a disaster, and even if he returns, he may be best served to replace George Springer as the team's designated hitter. The Blue Jays have been linked to Seiya Suzuki in reports, but a reunion with HernΓ‘ndez could make sense.

HernΓ‘ndez is due $17.3 million next season and has a $15 million club option for 2028. He is still a valuable bat and would be a great pivot if the Blue Jays don't find a star in free agency.

He is not a great defender, but he slashed .267/.334/.425 and hit 16 home runs. The Dodgers need a way to get De Paula on the field, and dealing HernΓ‘ndez to a needy team is the only real way.
