The Milwaukee Brewers just won the World Series, but that may not change the way they operate.

The Brewers always have an eye on the future, and fans should not expect that to change just because they won the Fall Classic. Even if they decide to make a few more moves to ensure they can continue to win, they are unlikely to start moving like the Los Angeles Dodgers or New York Mets in the offseason.

In recent years, the Brewers have shown that they would rather trade a star player in their final year before free agency instead of losing them on the open market, especially pitchers. They have done so with Freddy Peralta, Corbin Burnes, Josh Hader and Devin Williams.

They clearly either know they won't be able to afford some of these arms on the open market, or know they don't want to pay an aging pitcher. This year, Trevor Megill fits the mold. The All-Star closer will turn 33 this offseason, and ESPN's Jeff Passan reported that the Brewers are not making him off-limits.

"The World Series champion Brewers will at least listen on closer Trevor Megill," Passan wrote on Monday.

The Brewers could bite the bullet and keep him around for one more year and then let him walk if they feel like he is invaluable to them in making another World Series run. However, it's extremely unlikely they'll pay him top dollar as a free agent after next season.

The Brewers could trade Megill and still be in a better position at closer than most teams. Abner Uribe and Aaron Ashby are both ready to step into the closer role, but Uribe seems like the man to get the job should Megill be dealt.
