The World Series is over and the MLB offseason is officially underway, as teams are already making plans for 2027 and beyond.

On Friday, the Miami Marlins exercised their 2027 team option on Sandy Alcantara, locking him in for next season at a price of $21 million.

Alcantara, 31, is coming off a strong rebound campaign after struggling in 2025. The 2022 NL Cy Young winner led MLB with 214 innings, going 13-11 with a 3.87 ERA, 153 strikeouts, and 2.9 WAR.

His name has been frequently mentioned in trade rumors over the last few seasons, so it will be interesting to see if the Marlins shop him again this winter. If not, he could be a relative bargain at that price next year if he stays healthy and productive at the top of their rotation.
