This year has been quite the rollercoaster for Brandon Woodruff.

The two-time All-Star barely pitched this season due to shoulder injuries, making just nine starts for the Milwaukee Brewers during the regular season. He didn't pitch at all in the second half, with his last appearance coming on Independence Day.

Accordingly, it was unclear if he would even make the Brewers' postseason roster, let alone pitch in October.

On Monday, Woodruff pitched for the first time in nearly four months. With Milwaukee holding a 10-0 lead in Game 3 of the World Series, he was summoned by Pat Murphy to pitch the bottom of the ninth.

The 33-year-old righty did his job, recording the final three outs of the game. He allowed one run on two hits and struck out one in his World Series debut.

Now, the Brewers are just one win away from their first World Series title in franchise history. Time will tell if Woodruff pitches again in the series, but if not, at least he got his first taste of the Fall Classic.
