The Boston Red Sox fired Alex Cora after a 10-17 start this year, and he recently spoke to Baseball Isn't Boring about his future.

"I'm not 100% sure I want to do it," Cora said. "I love baseball. I do. I love my boys, but I love coaching other kids."

Cora has said he is not managing next year and has another year before he has to decide if he wants to get back into managing. He made sure to note that the decision will be made after discussing it with his family.

Cora also pointed out the cultures of the Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays when discussing what he would want if he decides to manage again. He emphasized the importance of culture and team chemistry. He also made sure to clarify that there was alignment between the Red Sox front office and himself, shutting down a notion that it was an issue.

Cora said he is not ruling out managing in 2027, but he did note that he thinks it would be difficult to jump into a managing situation in the middle of a season.

He compared jumping into a managing role midseason to the situation he was in this year. Just as he felt it was unfair to the players to have to learn a new coaching staff on the fly, he thinks it would be the same if he was the one jumping in.

"I'm not ruling out working," he said.

Cora was reportedly offered the Philadelphia Phillies job last season after Rob Thomson was fired. He was reportedly offered the job again this offseason, but turned it down.
