Game 1 of the World Series between the Milwaukee Brewers and the Tampa Bay Rays will take place on Friday, and the roof at American Family Field will be closed.

The roof at Tropicana Field is always a factor, but American Family Field's roof rarely comes into play. However, this postseason, there has already been one controversial moment involving the roof in Milwaukee.

Ty France hit a towering fly ball that looked like it was going to be a go-ahead home run in the ninth inning. However, it hit the roof in fair territory and landed in Jackson Chourio's glove for an out. There was a chance the ball was going foul as well, but it ended up being an out.

Regardless, the roof took away an at-bat or a home run from France. It's very rare that a ball hits the roof in Milwaukee, but it did happen recently, so the ground rules could come into play.

During the regular season, the team decides whether to keep the roof open or not, but during the postseason, the commissioner or another designated official makes the call.

The Brewers will have Jacob Misiorowski on the mound while the Rays have Nick Martinez. Martinez gets more fly balls than Misiorowski does, so the roof being closed could actually impact the Brewers' offense more than the Rays'.

The ground rules state that a ball that strikes the roof, roof truss or roof cable over fair territory is in play. If it strikes in foul territory, it is dead.
