The Milwaukee Brewers will play the Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series, with both teams looking to win the first World Series in franchise history.
With all of the talk about a lockout, a salary cap and payrolls, it seems fitting that two small-market teams that don't spend a ton are in the Fall Classic. Even though the series isn't superstar-packed like a Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees matchup would have been, it should still be a very entertaining series.
Both teams play a similar style of baseball and boast incredible pitching staffs. It really is anyone's series to win, and CC Sabathia is pulling for his former team.
"Let’s go Brew Crew!!!," Sabathia posted on X after the Rays won Game 6. "It’s time."
Sabathia has attended a postseason game for the Brewers this year, and even though his time on the team was brief, he is loved in Milwaukee.
He was inducted into the Brewers Wall of Honor in 2026 despite spending less than a full season with the team. However, he did help end a long postseason drought and even pitched on short rest in a contract year.
The Brewers have been knocking on the door of a championship for years, and will finally get the chance to play for one. It's no surprise Sabathia is pulling for the Brewers. Not only did he play for them, but the Rays are a rival of the New York Yankees, the team he spent most of his career with.
