Phillies Should Trade For All-Star Outfielder On Red Sox

The Philadelphia Phillies need to address the holes in their outfield this offseason.

Whether or not Bryce Harper stays in right field, the Phillies need outfielders. Brandon Marsh was an All-Star this season and will be back next year, but he really struggled in the second half. Outside of him, the team has nobody who they can really rely on in the outfield. Jarren Duran of the Boston Red Sox could be a player worth taking a chance on.

Duran did not have a great year and is far from the player he was in 2024 when he was an All-Star and led baseball in doubles and triples. In 2025, he was solid, but showed signs of decline. This year, he hit 20 home runs, but his OPS was .627. He could use a change of scenery because in a healthy Red Sox outfield, he is the odd man out.

He has not signed an extension, and the team already has Ceddanne Rafaela and Roman Anthony locked up long-term. Wilyer Abreu is younger than Duran, and Duran's role as the fourth outfielder could be filled by several guys, including Kristian Campbell. If the team decides to trade someone, Duran is the obvious choice.

Duran plays with an edge that would be perfect in the Phillies clubhouse, and still has pop in his bat. He possesses great speed and can be a factor on the bases as well. He has been a great player in the past, but it's becoming clear that his time in Boston has run dry, and his playing time is about to decrease.

He has been involved in trade rumors for years, and this offseason could be the one when he's finally moved.
