The Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers are playing in the National League Championship Series for the second straight season, and Major League Baseball has made a scheduling mistake that will upset Wisconsin sports fans.
Last year's NLCS was a sweep of the Brewers by the Dodgers, but this year is looking like it will be a much closer series. Should there be a Game 6, it is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 18 at 8 p.m. ET. Competing with the NFL for ratings is never going to be great for Major League Baseball. However, that specific date and time could be a huge mistake for Game 6.
The Green Bay Packers will be playing the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football at the same time, and Wisconsin Sports fans may have to pick between their beloved Packers and watching the Brewers try to topple the reigning champions.
Fans can obviously watch both simultaneously, but the fact that Major League Baseball is willing to go up against Sunday Night Football while a majority of one fan base is playing in the NLCS will also be invested the NFL's weekly primetime game is certainly puzzling.
Not only is it the fact that the Packers are playing, but it's who they are playing that also matters. The Cowboys are regarded as "America's Team" and have a huge fan base. That's only more people who may rather want to tune into the NFL and not the NLCS.
