Home-field advantage is important in baseball, especially in the playoffs. However, it didn't have much of an impact on Wednesday.
All four road teams won Wednesday's LDS games, marking the first time in MLB postseason history that four road teams won on the same day.
The Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays all clinched series victories on the road against the Atlanta Braves, San Diego Padres and New York Yankees, respectively, advancing to the LCS. Meanwhile, the Cleveland Guardians staved off elimination on the road against the Chicago White Sox, forcing Game 4.
Interestingly, the road team has won all three games in that Guardians-White Sox series. Cleveland will need to win on the road again tonight if it wants to keep its season alive.
The best teams can win anywhere, and that's exactly what they did on Wednesday, taking care of business away from home in high-pressure conditions.
