Jose Altuve is one of the best players of this generation, and when he takes the field against the Chicago White Sox in the Wild Card Series on Tuesday, he will be playing in his 106th career postseason game.
Altuve has played in the sixth most postseason games all time, and could move to the No. 2 spot if the Astros play the maximum number of games in every series and win the World Series. By playing in Tuesday's game, Altuve will join Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Bernie Williams, David Justice and Manny Ramirez as players who have played in more postseason games than the entire New York Mets franchise.
Altuve's career accomplishments are seen with an asterisk for many because of his involvement in the Astros cheating scandal. However, he is still a nine-time All-Star, two-time World Series Champion, Gold Glover, seven-time Silver Slugger, three-time batting champion and MVP Award winner.
The Mets do not have a great postseason track record, and it's never a good look when an individual player clears an entire franchise's postseason resume.
The Mets rank 13th all-time in postseason games played, so they are not the only team that Altuve has cleared.
