The Los Angeles Dodgers have punched their ticket to the postseason and will be looking to three-peat.
Last postseason, Yoshinobu Yamamoto had a run for the ages, throwing two complete games, working 28 2/3 innings and closing out the World Series on zero days of rest after throwing six innings the day before. He won World Series MVP and will once again be looking to deliver in October.
Yamamoto was an All-Star once again this year, posting a 2.53 ERA. However, he let Dodgers fans know after his final start of the regular season that he plans to play his best baseball in the postseason.
"Now we're getting into October, so I'd like to live up to the high expectations,” Yamamoto said after Wednesday's game.
The Dodgers' postseason rotation this year will feature Tarik Skubal, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell and Tyler Glasnow. It's very possible that Yamamoto is not even the Dodgers' No. 2 starter in October. The Dodgers have yet to reveal how they will line up their starters in October, but it's very likely they will have a bye and will have their pick.
If Yamamoto delivers as he did in last year's postseason, the Dodgers will have no problem winning the National League once again.
