The New York Yankees start the postseason on Tuesday, and three-time MVP Aaron Judge is on the injured list with a calf strain.
Manager Aaron Boone has said the team does not plan to use Judge in the Wild Card Series, but he has not ruled him out. Boone described Judge's calf strain as "moderate" on Tuesday, but Judge is not a fan of him saying that.
"I don’t know why he used those words,” Judge told reporters on Wednesday.
Despite details of his injury that are known to the public, Judge is saying he plans to be ready for Game 1 of the Wild Card Series. He received a PPP injection on Monday and is working hard to get back in the lineup for the Yankees' first postseason series.
“Everybody’s ‘moderate’ is a little different,” Judge said. “I think your moderate is a little different than my moderate.”
Whether or not Judge comes back remains to be seen, but as of right now, it does not seem like his manager is expecting him to play when the Yankees begin their quest for a World Series. Still, Judge knows that what Boone says does not impact how hard he works to return.
"Boonie is my guy. I’ve always got his back,” Judge said. “I know he makes the right decisions. Obviously, as a player you don’t want to hear that, but that’s out of my control. I’ve got to come back and be ready to go, and that’s what I’m focused on right now.”
