The Milwaukee Brewers lost on Tuesday, but they still ended the day with some good news.
The Brewers had no answer for Philadelphia Phillies ace Zack Wheeler, who struck out the first seven batters he faced and 11 overall. Milwaukee fell 6-4, dropping Tuesday's series opener at Citizens Bank Park and losing for just the 59th time this year.
Fortunately for the Brewers, however, the Atlanta Braves also lost, getting shut out 4-0 by the Cincinnati Reds. As a result, Milwaukee is now guaranteed at least the No. 2 seed in the National League.
The Brewers have already clinched the NL Central but have yet to clinch the No. 1 seed, which they lead by one game over the Los Angeles Dodgers. However, they've at least secured a first-round bye and home-field advantage for the NLDS.
That will help as Milwaukee aims for its first World Series title next month.
