Sunday was not a great day for Chicago sports fans as they watched quarterback Caleb Williams suffer a hamstring injury for the Chicago Bears and Alex Bregman take a foul ball off the face while standing in the on-deck circle for the Chicago Cubs.
Bregman was taken to the hospital after the injury, and after the game, manager Craig Counsell said he had a cut under his left eye and that he was bleeding from his nose. He also noted swelling. There is no official word on his return, but Bregman shared an update on his Instagram story.

Bregman's update revealed that he's back in Chicago, but judging by the image, he does not look like he will be playing soon. That is not what Cubs fans want to hear with the postseason starting in just over a week. Bregman has a pretty bad black eye and significant swelling. It's hard to imagine that he is seeing much out of that eye right now.
The Cubs need Bregman if they want to make a run, but they are not going to put his health at risk. Bregman has a .295/.381/.625 slash line and 15 home runs since the start of August. He is a huge part of the Cubs' offense, and getting him back could be the difference between a World Series run and a first-round exit.
