The New York Yankees placed Aaron Judge on the 10-day injured list with a calf strain on Saturday.

Judge exited Wednesday's game with lower leg tightness, but initially did not think it was anything to worry about. It felt like he and the team were taking a cautious approach, but it turns out the injury was more serious than initially believed. Judge is ineligible to return until the final game of the regular season, but his postseason availability is certainly in doubt.

โ€œI'd like to be back by the postseason," Judge said Saturday, per MLB.com's Bryan Hoch. "That's definitely the plan. I got really no answers for you on any timeline or anything like that.โ€

Calf injuries are tricky, and the Yankees cannot really rush him back. According to Hoch, Judge said his right calf strain is in the soleus muscle, but he did not reveal what grade it is. The Yankees seem to be keeping things close to the vest.

The Yankees still have a chance to win the division and have a bye. That could be huge for them, with Judge needing time to heal, but without Judge, winning the division will be tough. The Yankees have to sweep the Tampa Bay Rays next week to have a real chance going into the final series of the year.

If the Yankees do not win the division, they will start a best-of-three series against the Boston Red Sox two days after their final regular season game.
