The Los Angeles Dodgers activated Kris Bubic from the injured list on Wednesday.

The Dodgers acquired Bubic from the Kansas City Royals before the trade deadline. He has dealt with a shoulder injury and elbow soreness this season. He was an All-Star last season, but was struggling this year through nine starts. He has a 4.11 ERA this season, but had a 2.55 ERA last season in 20 starts.

This month, he has made six appearances for Triple-A Oklahoma City. He has worked 5 2/3 innings and has not allowed a single run. He has not gotten more than four outs in any outing, and the Dodgers will use him out of the bullpen.

In 2024, Bubic made 27 appearances as a reliever, posting a 2.67 ERA. He missed most of the season recovering from Tommy John surgery, but looked sharp out of the bullpen. The Dodgers could really use some help in the bullpen right now.

The Dodgers bullpen has a 4.21 ERA in the second half. It has been one of the worst units in baseball as of late, and Bubic could give Dave Roberts a reliable left-handed option capable of getting more than three outs. The Dodgers are one win away from winning the division, but they have much bigger goals. Bubic is a veteran arm who can get big outs for the Dodgers in October.

With Edgardo Rodriguez on the injured list right now, the Dodgers need someone to step up and get big. They are hoping Bubic can be that guy.
