The Brewers have already cleared 93 wins this year, and according to OptaSTATS, Murphy is the first manager to win at least 93 games in his first three seasons with a franchise since Hall of Famer Dick Williams with the Athletics between 1971 and 1973.
Murphy was with the Brewers long before he became manager, but as the bench coach for Craig Counsell. Murphy joined the Brewers in 2015, serving as the bench coach for Counsell, who himself was regarded as one of the best managers in the game.
Murphy had big shoes to fill, as Counsell had led the Brewers to their longest run of success ever. However, Murphy has redefined what success looks like in baseball. The Brewers are now seen as legit contenders and are on par with heavyweights like the Los Angeles Dodgers. Before this season, the Brewers and Murphy agreed to a three-year extension, something he has certainly earned.
