The Los Angeles Dodgers are less than two weeks away from the end of the regular season, and Freddie Freeman is in the middle of a terrible slump.
Freeman is dealing with a knee injury that has even kept him out of two games in the last week. His numbers this month are a huge concern heading into the postseason as the Dodgers look to three-peat. He went 0-for-8 in two games against the Miami Marlins.
Freeman's last hit came on Sept. 6 against the Washington Nationals. This month, he is slashing .100/.270/.200. He has just three hits in nine games and only one extra-base hit. With Shohei Ohtani already on the injured list, the Dodgers really need Freeman to be sharp in October.
Freeman is hitting .293 on the season, with an .818 OPS. His home run numbers have taken a step back, but overall, he has been a great player for the Dodgers once again. However, the Dodgers have championship aspirations, and what he does next month matters more than his regular-season numbers.
Freeman is 3-for-30 in his last 37 plate appearances. Dave Roberts has given him some days off because of his knee issues, but at some point the team will need him to start swinging a hot bat again. The Dodgers are in danger of losing their position as the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye.
