The Seattle Mariners lost 10-5 on Tuesday to the Texas Rangers, but rookie Lazaro Montes hit a 474-foot home run that is making headlines.
The no-doubter is the longest home run at T-Mobile Park since Statcast tracking started in 2015, per MLB.com's Luke Olson. Montes tied Fernando Tatis Jr.'s home run against the Atlanta Braves on July 21 for the longest home run hit in the majors this season.

"Right when I hit it, I said, ‘Oh man, this is far,’” Montes said after the game.
Montes was called up when the rosters expanded on Sept. 1. The 21-year-old outfielder checks in at 6-foot-5, 250 pounds, and is the team's No. 5 prospect. He had 38 home runs between Double-A Arkansas and Triple-A Tacoma in the minor leagues this season, and has two home runs in the big leagues now. He has a 65-grade power tool, and it is showing early on in the big leagues.
In six games so far, he has a .819 OPS, but his batting average is just .219. He has six RBIs and a walk as well, but he knows he can be playing better.
"Not bad. Not bad,” Montes said, reacting to his stats. “Can be better.”
T-Mobile Park is known for suppressing power, so Montes' home run is no small feat. The Mariners are 6 1/2 games out of a wild card spot with 17 games left to play. The hope was that a power bat like Montes' could help them get into the postseason, but it's looking unlikely.
