On Monday night, 32-year-old pitcher Tjomas Pannone threw a perfect game for the Milwaukee Brewers' Triple-A affiliate, the Nashville Sounds.
It was the perfect game by a single pitcher in the minor leagues since 2017, when Tyler Mahle and Domenic Mazz each threw a perfect game within three days of each other. Pannone was drafted by Cleveland in the ninth round of the 2013 MLB Draft, but has spent time in the Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Angels and Brewers organizations as well.
Pannone was traded from Cleveland to Toronto in 2017. He stayed with the Blue Jays until 202, making 49 appearances for the team total. He signed with the Angels before the 2021 season and then with the Red Sox before the 2022 season.
He had a 4.57 ERA with the Red Sox in Triple-A before deciding to sign with the Korea Baseball Organization in the middle of the year. He had a 2.72 ERA for the Kia Tigers in Korea in 2022. He signed with the Brewers in 2023, but also spent time in Korea again.
In 2024, he spent time in the minor leagues for the Yankees and Cubs, posting a 3.54 ERA across 30 games. This year, he has spent most of the season in Nashville, but has made one start for the Brewers, who have the best record in baseball.
His perfect game came against the Durham Bulls, Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. He had eight strikeouts and 10 groundball outs in the 3-0 win. He also needed 94 pitches to get through the entire game, also making it a Maddux.
