Pete Crow-Armstrong is the MVP frontrunner in the National League, but he has not been able to perform against the Milwaukee Brewers this season.
Crow-Armstrong has an OPS over .800 against every team he's played more than one series against this season, except the Milwaukee Brewers, Arizona Diamondbacks and Washington Nationals. Of those three teams, the struggles against the Brewers are the most concerning.
The Brewers are in his division, so he will see them 13 times a season for as long as he is a Cub. Last season, the Brewers faced the Chicago Cubs in the National League Division Series as well. This season, Crow-Armstrong has a .067 batting average against the Brewers. He has just two hits in 34 plate appearances, and one of those hits came against a position player on Monday night.
In fact, in his career, Crow-Armstrong has a .155/.252/.330 slash line with 38 strikeouts against the Brewers. He does have five home runs in his career against them, but his numbers against the Brewers are by far the worst of any team he has more than 80 career plate appearances against.
This year, he is one of the best hitters in all of baseball, but none of that production has come against the Brewers, a team he has played eight games against. Crow-Armstrong will see the Brewers five more times before the regular season ends. He should still be able to win MVP, but his woes against Milwaukee are concerning. Cubs fans should be nervous if he has to face them in the postseason.
