During the New York Yankees 16-1 win over the Boston Red Sox, Red Sox play-by-play man for WEEI radio, Will Flemming, called Jazz Chisholm "bush league" and said he plays the game the wrong way for stealing two bases up by six runs in the eighth inning.
Flemming issued an apology on X, and according to The Athletic's Chris Kirschner, he called manager Aaron Boone to apologize on Monday. However, he did not apologize to Chisholm.
“To be honest with you, I don’t,” Chisholm said when asked if he cares for an apology from Flemming, per Kirschner.
Chisholm has never been one to care what people say about him. He is focused on getting back to his All-Star form and helping the Yankees win a World Series. He is a few months away from free agency, and Flemming calling him a "bush league" player is not on his mind.
Chisholm has faced backlash in the past for celebrating and playing with some edge. However, he has not changed who he is, so fans should not hold their breath for him to change now.
The Yankees winning three out of four games against the Red Sox over the weekend secured the season series for the Yankees. If the two finish with the same record, the Yankees would have the tiebreaker. If the standings hold as they are right now, the Red Sox would be taking a trip to the Bronx for a best-of-three series.
