The New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox will wrap up their four-game series on Sunday afternoon and a big-name player is coming back up to New York.
The biggest story of the series involves the Red Sox. Boston got both Roman Anthony and Trevor Story back from the Injured List ahead of the series finale. But the Yankees promoted a piece of their own to come up and help. That is 2024 Rookie of the Year Award winner Luis Gil.
Jorge Castillo of ESPN initially reported that Gil was coming up.

Then, the Yankees made the move official.
"Prior to today’s game, the Yankees made the following roster moves: Recalled RHP Luis Gil (#81) from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Optioned RHP Yerry de los Santos to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre," the Yankees announced.

Gil is in town and will help the Yankees out of the bullpen from here on out, at least for now.
